The 7.92x24mm Hollow Point cartridge

At first I like to point out that we in The Flanders have no freedom of speech and in the matter of wound ballistic we will be asked by a certain governmental service if we are crazy to talk about which type of bullet causes the biggest permanent wound cavity content or has the highest lethality?

Since hollow point bullets for civilian personal defense are forbidden in the most European countries, can even talking about hollow point bullets be considered as making publicity for an illegal type of ammunition with as result the withdrawal from the personals possession of weapon permits.

So, I point clearly out, there can be no weapons, ammunition or ammunition parts purchased at this website or at VBR-Belgium.
.
This is not an attempt to make publicity for Hollow Point bullets as they are forbidden for civilian personal defense by the Belgian law. This article is only intend for Law Enforcement agencies and has only an informative purpose.

This page is an reaction on the article written by Nathaniel F. at Thefireamsblog. “Three obsolete calibers that should be brought back from the dead”. .. mmmm..?

I quote “ …. The muzzle velocity of this round, too, is significant. The “short” version of the 7.92×24 produces over 1,500 ft/s from a 4″ barrel …. this additional velocity could help ensure the expansion of hollow point projectiles…” .. you are right!

Since Federal Ammunition announces Hollow Point bullets in the .30 Super Carry for personal defense in the United States, many discussions go about this topic.

I point out that the information on this topic is achieved from test results out the past been done under the Belgian permit of recognized person it the matter of firearms and ammunition, all categories of weapons and ammunition . So, these are not new test results, they are old and do not violate the current Belgian Firearm Law.

The 7.92x24 mm HP bullet expansion at high velocity.

Maximum diameter of this experimental expanded .312 HP bullet was 17.2 mm or .670 Inch.

So we are rather surprised by the small announced bullet expansion of the 100 grains .30 Super Carry HP bullet which is only .530 Inch?

The higher velocity of the 7.92x24mm cartridge provides indeed a bigger bullet expansion.
